Here is the flyer sent home with the girls the first day of practice. Please read over and let me know any concerns. Thank you!

EMS 7th and 8th Grade Volleyball 2020

This season will look a little different for everyone. We are getting a late start due to district construction and delayed start of school, teams dropping out and schedule adjustments as well the ever changing COVID world we are in right now. We are happy the girls can get out to play. I look forward to teaching them the game and introducing them to the foundation and skills necessary to go to the next level wherever their skills are.

Important information:
PRACTICE
- Temperatures will be taken and recorded before every practice.
- Masks must be worn at all times during practice and games. Face/neck gaiter masks are allowed for play. Activities will be monitored modified if needed and appropriate breaks taken.
- Social distancing will be practiced as much as possible.
- Every player will need a physical to play. If the athlete had one last year for any sport you can fill out a form to have it apply to this year.
- Players need to be ready for practice by start time and have a ride at the end of practice.
Players need to have water bottles for practice and games. Drinking fountains are not available at any schools including our own.
Knee pads are recommended
Special volleyball shoes are not necessary and up to individual players/parents. Clean indoor gym shoes are all that is necessary.
Cell phones are not to be checked during practice. If its an emergency you can contact me on my cell.

GAMES
- Games will be Monday and Thursday starting 10/5- schedule attached
- Uniform tops will be handed out. Bottoms will need to be black spandex shorts or black shorts.
- Temperatures will be taken and recorded before every home game and before getting on the bus for away games.
- Away games – Athletes will leave from school. Please make sure they take all necessary items to school on those days.
- Home games – Athletes will go directly to gym after school to start warming up. Please make sure they take all necessary items to school on those days.
- All 7th grade games will begin at 3:30 with the 8th grade immediately following
- Both teams will be expected to cheer on each other. Phones will be kept in bags during games.
- Line judging is a part of being on the team and will be divided so everyone has a turn. 7th grade line judges for 8th and vice versa.
- Athletes can use their phones on the bus home from away games to contact someone to pick them up. All busses from away games will drop off at Endeavour for pick up.
- Players have to bring water bottles for games as no drinking fountains will be available.
- Athletes are students first and must remain eligible in all classes to play.
- The MHSAA has playing time guidelines for Junior High athletics.
SPECTATORS
- Each player will be given two tickets for spectators at home and away games. Only these tickets can be used for entry into games. This is an MHSAA rule based on the Governor’s orders. No one at our schools, including our Athletic Director and myself, can change this and spectators will be turned away if they do not have a ticket in hand. If athletes won’t be using their tickets they can give to another player to use. This is not ideal for anyone but we cannot make exceptions so please don’t ask. If any of this changes we will notify parents/guardians.
- Spectators are required to wear a mask while at games and indoors at all schools.
- Spectators are expected to practice social distancing measures at games. Households can sit by each other and must stay at least six feet from others

Most importantly: All players will be expected to adhere to our school’s handbook policies. They are representing themselves, parents, our school and myself as their coach. We will handle ourselves respectfully to all adults including officials and coaches, their teammates and opponents.
While we always look forward to our athletic teams being competitive, keep in mind a lot of the girls have never played the sport before. We want to make sure they learn the proper foundation of skills and not always go for the “win”. We might play against teams who have played for years and possibly even played together for a while. Our teams will be focused on improving every practice and game as well as remaining competitive.
I look forward to meeting all the players and please contact me with any questions.
